Janow sold no pure arabian horse during monthly auction

Results of monthly Janow Stud Auction are under the link below (sold horses in red). No purebred arabian horse found new owner. Only five out of 43 horses offered for sale were sold. Sold horses were partbred colts and geldings sport prospects.

Rescue operation took place in April and Nay this year. Emergency Animal Trzcianka and Viva rescued 20 arabian horses from Cholewa Stud. These horses remain the property of their breeder until the court decision. During the Arabian horse youth show, which took place on 4-5 June in Bialka was conducted to collect money for the horses from Cholewa. More about seized horses in the link below.

Today, at Salon du Cheval in Paris Michalow bred yearling fillies Piacenza and Zigi Zana were placed 2 and 3 respectively. Emandoria won her class, and Pistoria was 4th in the same class. Emmona was 2nd in the senior mares class and Zagrobla - 4th. Parmana which is leased by Athab Stud, was 5th in her class.

Today during the European Championships in Moorsele Michalow bred and owned yearling filly Zigi Zana won her class with the second score of the day (92,90 pts). Piacenza was second in this class (92,40). Michalow bred and owned yearling colt Empire won his class. Wieża Róż was third in her class. Parmana and El Saghira, leased by Athbah Stud, were second and fifth in their classes.

From Janow Stud website: We received a very sad news. Wojtek Kowalik — an Arabian horse breeder and trainer, a good friend for many of us died suddenly yesterday. He started his career at Srzydlów Stud. Then, for many years he worked for Białka Stud, and later for Kurozwęki Stud and Blommeröd Arabstuteri in Sweden. In recent years, he was mainly cooperating with SHG-AIR Stud Farm and Athbah Stud in Saudi Arabia. Both in Europe and at the Middle East he was highly regarded for his professionalism and knowledge about Arabian horses. It is so difficult to write "he was"...

Shirley Watts sent us the sad news that Michalow bred mare Pikieta passed away peacefully on Friday the 26th of March, at the age of 28. Pikieta was National Reserve Champion Mare (1987), and the World Reserve Champion Mare (1988). She was the second high selling horse at the 1990 Polish Prestige sale (160.000 USD).

Last Saturday the daughter of Janow Podlaski bred stallion Eksport - Ekstencja El Emir became the Brazilian National Champion Endurance Horse at 120 km. In September Aloha Marechal - the daughter of another Janow's stallion Sarmata - became the Brazilian National Champion Young Horse at 90 km. Both mares was sold in utero at the Rach Generations 2002 auction. Janow Podlaski bred stallion Polonez is the all time leading sire of the endurance horses in Brazil.

Michalow bred Eloida became the Senior Champion Mare and Supreme Champion Mare at the North West Show held on 2nd-4th of October in Parys (South Africa). Georgetown became the Reserve Senior Champion Stallion and was awarded with the Supreme Top Five Stallion title. He was also awarded with many perfomance titles: the Reserve Champion in Country Pleasure, English Pleasure and Costume, and Top Five Hunter Pleasure. Congratulations!

On the 26th of October 2008 during the European Championships in Moorsele (Belgium) Janow Stud bred and owned incredible Pianissima won her class with the highest score of the show 94.2 pts (10 "twenties") and in the finals she became the Unanimous European Senior Champion Mare. 3-years old Altamira was awarded with Top Five title. On the 27th of Oct 2008 during the European Championships in Moorsele (Belgium) Michalow Stud bred and owned Kabsztad became the Junior Reserve Champion Stallion. Emesa, Emanda and Esparto were awarded with the Top Five titles. Both mares won their classes. Drabant was the best among the 4-5-years old stallions. Pistoria was second and Norma third in the class of 4-5-years old mares.

Our Arabian Horses` Training Center recently established a co-operation with Janów Podlaski Stud. In the sables of “Champion” Riding Club standing are two stallions bred and owned by Janów – grey Esculap 1999 (Primo – Esparceta) and bay Esturion 2000 (Wachlarz – Etra). They already began a mild, autumnal training for stamina, whereas from the season 2009 would probably start to compete in endurance events under our riders. Perhaps quite soon other Janów horses would join them, in order to begin a preparatory training for starts in endurance competitions.

During the last week-end (Oct.18-19th) our two teams took part in a very important international event at Holzerode – Goettingen CEI 2*/3*. On the longest distance 120 km – CEI 3*, among 20 participants, Beata Dzikowska started on her unreplaced Cyryl (by Sinus). Unfortunately, because of hard weather conditions and wet, stony surface, Beata had to give up by several kilometers before the finish line. Just before our arrival, on Thursday, we were frightened by the cold, rains and winds, but, thanks God, on Friday the sun appeared and shone nicely.

Janow Podlaski bred stallion Etolog (Primo - Etnografia) born1999, won the Swiss National Arabian Horse Breeding Exhibition in Bern. Etolog received a score of 8.5 points which is the highest score in the 16 year history of the exhibition. Etolog is currently owned by Beata and Matthias Eglin. Congratulations!

Monika Luft: What made you move from hair business to horse business?
Raymond Mazzei: I was a director in Beverly Hills, I love beautiful things and Arabian horses are beautiful. For me they are artistic animals, they even have an artistic attitude themselves, they never are just plotting along, they have their tail up, they’re bright, they’re looking. In history the artistic model of the horse has been the Arabian. People anywhere in Europe, in America, when they see a horse with big nostrils, a tail up, they credit it to the Arabian style. So I left the other work because I just started to become horse crazy and left the other business completely. I decided that all that hair business was too superficial, the Arabian horse was more real, more noble than women’s faces and hair, one fat, one skinny, I couldn’t look at them anymore. The horses don’t speak back, you women speak all the time, I was tired of listening...

On May 1st Champion Stable horses will compete in endurance ride – an international event CEI 1*/2*/3* at Babolna (Hungary), rated to the CEEC ranking. Our club will be represented by: Beata Dzikowska on Cyryl (CEI 3*, 120 km), Kamila Kart on Cert (the same distance) and Artur Landau on the French-bred Cricket du Pecher (CEI 2*, 80 km). The Hungarian start is supposed to be a good training and test for Cyryl and Cert, who are planned to participate in a serious and prestigious event at Rambouillet in France (Amateur Elite GP – CEI***), organized by Enduro Cheval, on the champion`s distance 160 km. Besides, on May 27th, we are going to support our Malik Kerous, who under his trainer Stephan Chazel will take part in a 90 km ride in mountainuous Uzes.

Today, the long and exotic trip of three Polish bred horses has began. The stallions are: Tullamore (Harbin – Turbina/Balaton), b. SK Dioni, o. Urszula Leczycka, Faronn (Ekstern – Firosetta/Eldon)b. & o. Czeple Arabians and Black Solfernus (BS Black Fable – DP Black Sheeniah/DP Black Dominic), b. & o. Silvatica Black Arabians. This departure is a special moment in the history of the breeding contacts between Poland and Iran, being the first direct import of Polish horses to this Middle Eastern country ever. Tullamore, Faronn and Black Solfernus are on the way to Luxembourg where will be loaded to the Iranian aircraft and transported to Teheran when the new owner is looking forward to see them on Saturday.

Penitent (1979-2008)

We have received sad news that Janow bred stallion Penitent has passed away on the 19th of February, at the age of 29. Penitent was a Polish National Champion Stallion and European Champion Stallion. In 1988 he was exported to the US. Among his get in Poland are such stars and excellent broodmares as Michalow bred: Kawalkada (US Nat. Champion Mare), Palestra - the dam of Prognoza, Palestyna and Palmira, Palba (Towerlands Champion Mare) and Dracena. Our sincere condolences to the owner!

Kwestura conquers Paris!

It seemed that in the senior mares all would belong to El Dorada (Sanadik El Shaklan x Emigrantka byEukaliptus), presented by Greg Gallun. But apparently this mare feels better in the hands of Mariusz Liskiewicz. Today undisputedly the best was Kwestura (Monogramm x Kwesta byPesennik), who received a loud ovation from the public. Four judges chose her as Champion – surely her supporter was Sylvia Eberhard, who did not conceal her joy after the announcing of the results. The Reserve Champion Col Cora (Wagner x Calika by Mentik) didn’t especially show herself in movement, so she did not stand a chance of beating Kwestura.

In series A of the junior stallions Poland was first represented by Altis of Falborek Arabians, who found himself in the easier of the two series, having only one strong rival – Hypnotic Ibn Eternity, who remained a leader for a long time with a total score of 91,6 points.
This year in Paris the favorizing of the Egyptian type horses and those owned by studs from the Middle East is more than evident. Such a situation does nothing to help Polish horses.
The A series of the senior stallions gathered the Polish Esparto and Poganin.It was definitely Poganin day, perfectly posing at the halt and gliding over the ground at his handler’s bidding. A victory with a high score of 92,2 points (including a “20” for type and movement) was fully deserved by this Janów stallion.

Equifor preparing for his US debut

Equifor arrived recently at Greg Gallun's farm in California. We are looking forward to a great show with him – informs Marsha Parkinson, Equifor's current leaser. All things going with good fortune, he will start his US show career at Scottsdale. Let's recall that Janow Podlaski-bred 2003 colt Equifor (Gazal Al Shaqab – Eqviria/Pers) is already a title holder of 2005 Polish National Junior Reserve Champion, Junior Champion Stallion of Falborek and Reserve at Bełzyce shows in Poland as well as 2004 Bełzyce Reserve Champion Colt.
Shortly after returning from the track in August 2006 he was leased by Polish Arabian horse lover and breeder Marsha Parkinson of Canterbury Farm at Melfield, Maryland. There are his first foals expected to be born at Canterbury Farm in January. One of the very first Equifor's foals will be out of Michalow-bred Egeria (Eukaliptus – Emigracja/Palas), full sister to such international stars as famous Emigrantka, Emanacja and Elandra.

Verona: one Champion and two Reserves for Poland

The European Champion Filly title went to Michałów’s Pistoria (Gazal Al Shaqab – Palmira), superbly presented by Mariusz Liśkiewicz. Her movement stirred a huge commotion from the massively gathered public. The Reserve Champion garland was awarded to the filly Psynata (Psytadel – Natalia), owned by Dubai Arabians Stud. Thus Zagrobla was awarded with “just” Reserve Champion Mare, though without a doubt she is close to perfection in terms of conformation and movement, which always wins over the public.
Poland returns from Verona with one European Champion title (Pistoria), two titles of Reserve (Zagrobla and Grafik) and six Top Five titles (Espinezja, Altis, Palmira, Estoria, Poganin and Esparto). We can definitely say that Polish horses succeeded in Italy.

Sunday in Verona: Grafik’s Italian dance

Today in Verona the morning hours held three of the final stallions’ classes: 4-6 year olds, 7-9 year olds and 10 year olds and above. The first of these was won by Janów’s grey Poganin (Laheeb – Pohulanka) with a total score of 93 points, including one “20” for movement. The stallion gave a superb performance both during the pose and during movement.
The last class of the European Championships in Verona was the 10 year old and above stallions, which this time – accompanied by the cheering public – was dominated by the grey Grafik (Eukaliptus – Gaskonia). Verona: The Italian Nationals and Polish flavors

Verona, the place where yesterday and today horses battled it out at the Italian Nationals, had no problems with accommodating an enormous number of spectators and participants from all over the world. The event is accompanied at the same time by the Rolex Cup 2007 Show Jumping competition, part of the World Cup, as well as the international equestrian fair Fiera Cavalli, which offers equine lovers and breeders everything from nutrition, tack and clothing to stable building and horse transportation.
The first classes of the Nationals showed the position of Fontanella Magic Arabians on the Italian breeding scene. There were also some Polish flavors.

Polish success at Topolcianky CEEC finals

Central European Endurance Cup finals took plase in Topolcianky (Slovakia) last weekend (12th-14th of October 2007). Ester ( Wermut x Eskadra), 13-years old gelding bred by Kurozweki Stud, ridden by Marcin Tobiasz finished 160km (100miles) in time: 10:19:44 with Av. Speed: 15.491km/h, what gives him second place in this competition. Magnum (Nehros x Marrah) 11-years old chestnut gelding ridden by Peter Baumann(Ger) was the winning horse. His time was: 09:54:51 and Av. Speed: 16.139 km/h. Magnums ancestors are mainly from Polish lines. Mu-Zahrat (Dobryn x Mu-Gaza), 8-years old mare bred by Zygmunt Tobiasz, ridden by Kamila Tobiasz finished 80km (50 miles) distance in time04:38:50: with Av. Speed:17.216km/h , placed fourth, and achieving Best Condition Title. Congratulations to the winners and to all, who finished this difficult competition!

Piruet leaving for France

Piruet (Probat x Pieczec), 24-years old stallion, bred by Janow Stud, is leaving for France in October. Piruet was bought from Janow Stud in 1991 by Cecile and Richard Pihlström for 70 000 USD. Janow Stud was leasing the stallion from his actual owner: Mr Joseph Geenen in 2006. Michalow Stud was leasing him in 2007. After two years spent in his maternal country, Piruet is leaving for France in October this year. Piruet was World’s Champion Stallion twice, European Champion Stallion three times, France National Champion Stallion, Italy National Champion Stallion and the winner of many other shows. His progenitors are doing very well not only in the show rings but in endurance as well. Janow Stud team is very proud of the foals by Piruet born in 2007. Many Polish private breeders bought breedings to Piruet in 2006 and 2007 as well. Breeding fee was 2000 Euro (2700 USD). Good bye, Piruet!Have a nice trip to France! Poland will never forget you!

Georgetown success at North West Championships (South Africa)

During the North West Championships held on 4-6th of October in Parys (South Africa) Michalow bred Georgetown became the Champion Colt and the Supreme Champion Stallion. He was also awarded the Reserve Champion Country Pleasure Horse and the Champion Costume Horse titles under saddle. Moreover, Georgetown received the Overall Victor Ludorum for winning 2 Championships, 1 Reserve Championship and 1 Supreme Championship. Palmira became the Senior Champion Mare (with the highest score of the show 94.7 pts), Esparto - the Senior Reserve Champion Stallion, and Pistoria, Estoria and Grafik were awarded with Top Five titles (Estoria and Grafik won their classes) during 25th All Nations Cup in Aachen on the 30th of September . Poland won the All Nations Cup and the Breeders Cup.

Pladykt (Plakat x Bint Edykta/Edykt) became senior stallion champion, Amalfi(Padrons Psyche x RD Bey Shahmpane/Bey Shah ) became reserve champion during Dutch National Championships, which were held 15-16th of September in Ermelo. Pladykt is a grandson of Michalow bred Edykt. Amalfi's dam's - RD Bey Shahmpane - pedigree is 50% Polish. Amalfi's full brother Enzo was used as a sire by Janow Stud.

Yesterday very impressed and moved Rick and Susana Flammer left Poland. Owners of Harizan Farm (Brenhan, TX), have visited Poland for the first time since 17 years. Former owners of Arra, Orlica, Orlik and Origan as well as Stokrotka and Orgia purchased in US they established their breeding with Polish female lines famous for their braveness. They have also been using sires of Polish roots. This is their stud from where Ontario HF purchased to Poland by Mr. Czesław Witko of Kilenarowa Stud comes from.

Eberia (Ecaho x Ebola) 1996, who was bred by Michalow Stud and sold during Pride of Poland Auction 2005 for 54 000 Euro to Jadem Arabians (Belgium) became Reserve Senior Champion Mare. Michalow bred Esparto (Ekstern x Ekspozycja) 2002, was second in the 4-6 years old stallions class, following only Final Shadow (Psytadel x AS Shahwan). Bresilia (Psytadel x RA Cool Elygance) 2005, whose both parents were bred in the USA, two years old filly, bred by Swatam Arabians owned by Polish breeder Wojciech Parczewski was second in her class.
